Building Positive, Carbon Negative

Sphera, a North East sustainable greentech enterprise are turning a traditional industry on its head with ground-breaking, sustainable technology. Sphera find sustainable solutions for UK infrastructure across construction and urban environments, using plastic waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill. 

We worked with Sphera to transform their brand personality, visuals, and strategy into a confident, aspirational and bold brand identity that supports their ambition: to make net zero construction a reality. Workshop visits, research and insight identified challenges with the name (formerly Plastech Innovation) so we worked with the team to refine and develop a new way forward.

What we did: naming, tone of voice, brand strategy, brand architecture, brand identity, art direction.

It was important the new name was credible yet disruptive, to stand out in a traditional marketplace. Sphera is dynamic and supports the vision of building a better tomorrow. Sphera is the feminine noun for globe, it also represents the circular economy; the ambition of the CEO’s. It was important the brand had a strong why, which was identified as: building positive, carbon negative.

The visual brand concept ‘the Dandelion Effect’ reflects Sphera’s core mission, vision and values. Like Sphera, Dandelions are tenacious, they take root, thrive and freely share their beauty. Sphera have discovered a revolutionary technique, a discovery that has the power to drive real change in the construction industries, in our natural environment and beyond. The natural world around us is connected through an intricate web, a never-ending ripple that spans across the globe. The colour palette and brand imagery take inspiration from our natural world and urban environment, the tension creates a juxtaposition that reflects Sphera’s forward thinking approach to the construction industry.

A collective effort to accomplish great things and a space for organic conversation, changes the course and paves forward for positive change.
